Obituary of William D. Tucker, Jr.

William D. Tucker, Jr. was born August 7, 1934 in Memphis, TN. He passed away September 16, 2023 from Lewy Body Dementia and Parkinson’s at age 89.

He was predeceased by parents Marguerite and William D. Tucker, Sr. and his loving Aunt Ethel Lucas who raised him after his mother died of TB when he was three years old.

He attended Treadwell High School in Memphis then served four years in the U.S. Navy.

Bill retired from General Motors (AC Delco) after 31 years of service. He had moved to Texas in 1975.

He was very involved in sports playing Senior Softball up until 75 years old. He was the manager of the Texas Greyhounds team and won many championships. He formed many friendships during this time with travels all over the United States.

Bill also won player of the year playing Texas Hold’em at the Farmers Branch Senior Center.

Bill was a handyman and was very generous with his knowledge and time for all who needed him. He was a very caring man.

He is survived by Miriam, wife of 50 years. He is also survived by three sons, Paul (Nancy) Ridgeville, S.C., Norman, Memphis, TN., Richard (Kristi) Arlington, TX., two daughters, Ellen mcElhaney, Memphis, TN. and Mary Allen, Hurst, TX.

He leaves numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

We want to give special thanks to Harmony Hospice and Ashford Hall Nursing Home for all the special care they gave him and the family.

The family wants to give heartfull thanks to Stephanie Webb for all her caregiving this last year.
