Obituary of Tommy Green

Tommy Gene Green, 71, passed away on Monday, June 19, 2023. He was predeceased by his mother Mattie Green, father Alton Green. Tommy is survived by his son Thomas Alton Green (and Cerra). He also leaves behind nine siblings: 

Oliver Green, Patricia Landes, Leona Beaumont, Sandra Ryon, Sonya Frazier, Joyce Hawkins, James Green, Judy Winegart, and Jerry Green. 

Tommy was a resilient soul who triumphed over life’s adversities. His journey was defined in part by his unwavering strength and determination, having undergone not just one, but two kidney transplants. The first transplant came early in his adulthood, and despite the challenges it posed, Tommy faced them with unwavering courage. However, fate dealt him another challenge around the age of 50, when he found himself in need of a second transplant. Throughout his life, Tom- my’s health had its ups and downs, yet he never allowed it to dampen his spirit. His gratitude for the blessings he had was unyielding, and he embraced each day with a heart full of appreciation. Even during his times of illness and in the final chapters of his life, Tommy’s selflessness shone through brightly. He steadfastly put others before himself, never wanting to be a burden to those he held dear. His love for his beloved son and the strong bond he shared with his nine siblings were con- stant sources of joy and strength for him. Tommy’s legacy is one of resilience, gratitude, and love. He leaves behind a profound impact on all who had the privilege of knowing him. While we mourn his loss, we will forever cherish his memory and the lessons he taught us. 

A memorial service will be held at Valdasta Baptist Church (7194 Old Valdasta Rd, Blue Ridge, Texas) on Saturday, July 8 at 1:30 pm.
