Obituary of Robert Lynn Leach

Robert Lynn Leach born July 25, 1946, passed this life on March 8, 2023.

Preceded in death by his father Kellogg Leach, mother Wanda Crosswhite Leach and twin brother Rex. He is survived by his wife of almost 54 years Cathy, his daughters Christin Leach and Amy Mueller, grandchildren Kate Mueller Stokes and husband Casey, Derek Mueller, Caroline Mueller and Olivia Yannessa, and his great-grandchildren Parker Stokes and Blakely Eason. He is also survived by sister Sandy Ventimiglia-Byars, brother Rodney Leach and wife Jean and nieces Lisa Goolsby Langello, Wendy Leach and Sarah Leach.

Rob was a lifelong resident of Carrollton-Farmers Branch. He graduated from R.L. Turner High School in 1964. He went on to attend North Texas State University (now UNT) in Denton and was a member of Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity. He married the love of his life Catherine Gondolf in June 1969. In the 1970’s and 80’s he ran the company his father started Patty’s of Texas, a women’s sportswear manufacturer. After Patty’s closed, he spent a few years trying to find a career he loved, and he found that in the Federal Treasury Department working for the Office of Thrift Supervision. He was a bank examiner for the OTS and absolutely loved traveling around the country and working. He worked for the OTS for 20 years until he was forced to retire early due to a neurological disease called Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus.

After retirement he and Cathy traveled many more times to his favorite place, Colorado. He particularly loved Estes Park, CO. In their younger years they were very active at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church and in Marriage Encounter. Rob developed so many beautiful life-long friendships thru both. Rob loved being a girl dad and was always present with a camera in hand at dance recitals, basketball games, drill team performances, etc. However, the greatest joy of his life was by far his grandchildren. He absolutely loved being a Papa and was so proud of each of them.

Rob was a true believer in Jesus Christ and is now rejoicing in heaven with all the angels and saints. He will be greatly missed by all of those who loved him, but his love of photography has left them with thousands of photos documenting life and so many cherished memories.
