Lawrence Harry Levy
Lawrence Harry Levy was born on July 13, 1947 and passed away peacefully at Carrollton Regional Medical Center in Texas January 9, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents Maxine Zelda Schenker and Julian Levy and his sister Marilyn Vogel of Sunny Isles Beach, Florida.
Larry grew up in Joliet, Illinois where he excelled in sports during his high school years as a player on championship basketball and football teams. He also excelled in academics, specifically science and math. Through his childhood and adulthood his closest friend was Larry Cohen who resides in Chicago.
After high school graduation, Larry attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign where he completed a Bachelor of Science in Organic Chemistry with highest honors and a Mathematics minor. He then attended U. of I. Chicago College of Medicine to achieve his Doctor of Medicine (MD). His educational endeavors continued at University of Wisconsin in Madison to complete his Internal Medicine Internship and Residency; a Fellowship in Nephrology; a Post Doc in Immunology; and Graduate School Healthcare Fiscal Management Coursework.
Over the years, Dr. Levy’s professional career included work as a doctor of Internal Medicine, a Nephrologist, and a Medical Administrator. He retired in 2017 as the National Medical Director for Lockton Benefits Group in Dallas, TX.
Larry met his future wife Kathleene Danae Sauer at University of Illinois in 1970. The couple married in Peoria, Illinois at First Baptist Church on Father’s Day June 18, 1972.
Throughout their marriage, they resided in Illinois, Wisconsin, Georgia, and Texas.
Larry enjoyed reading medical journals and health oriented books, engaging in muscle building gym workouts, and watching movies.
Larry is survived by his wife Kathleene Danae of McKinney, TX and his son Jonas David Levy (Athena) and two grandsons Kaden age 5 and Ander age 3 of Dallas, TX.
