James Hyland
Obituary
James (Jim) Hyland was born on June 4, 1939, in Eagle, WI, to John and Louise Hyland, and he shared his life with us until his passing on May 22, 2023. From a young age, Jim found joy and solace in music; serving as an altar boy at St. Theresa Catholic Church, playing the church organ, and singing in the choir. This early passion for music carried him throughout his life, as he later became a cherished member of the Greendale Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society. In addition to music, Jim’s love for gardening, inherited from his mother, was evident in the beautiful and precise landscaping he created at every home he and his family shared. Jim’s journey through life was marked by love, laughter, and a deep-rooted sense of family. On January 13, 1968, he married Roberta (Robbie) Doroszuk, and they raised three wonderful daughters together. Jim’s love for the outdoors extended to barbecuing and spending time on the patio, enjoying a cold beverage with family and friends. In his later years, Jim found love again with Donna Miller. Their shared love of music and faith in the Lord created a bond that was both strong and tender, as they enjoyed quiet moments together on their porch swing, watching the sun set, and greeting neighbors with a warm smile. Together, Jim and Donna formed a loving family with stepdaughters Melora Hartman, Maren Ruediger, and Melanie Cottier. Jim’s gentle nature and kind heart will continue to live on through his beloved wife, Donna Hyland, his daughters and sons-in-law Kristin and Mickey Tharp, Lisa Hyland, and Amy and Joe Bragg, as well as his five grandchildren, Michael Tharp, Nicholas Tharp, Samantha Bragg, Kaitlyn Bragg, and Hannah Arriaga. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Hyland and Louise Breidenbach. Jim’s compassionate spirit will be remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him, and his legacy will live on through the cherished memories of his family and friends. We invite you to leave your memories of James Hyland and upload any photos you may have to share on the memorial page. Let’s celebrate a life well-lived and the lasting impact he has had on those who knew and loved him.

Testimonials

It was such a nice pleasure to meet you, and what you had planned for my father just took my breath away. It was so special to hear you tell us how he would just come over to talk with you. I think it brought him much comfort. Thank you for putting that Air Force article of him on your website. I am going to have a replica made of the painting of his plane to give you. Thank you again for all you have done to honor our dad. Love, The Gillilands
