Obituary of
Gerald Lane Tate
Gerald Lane Tate was born on October 16, 1937, in Dallas, Texas to Virgil E. Tate and Welch Funderburgh Tate. He passed from this life on March 30, 2023, at his home. He graduated from Sunset High School in Dallas in 1956 and then attended the University of Texas in Austin. He served in the U.S. Army from 1960-1962. He was stationed in Heidelberg, Germany where he met Helen Finck. They were married in Heidelberg in 1962. Gerald was employed for many years as a graphic artist at Enserch Corporation and its subsidiary, Lone Star Gas. He was a member of the Dallas Historical Society and a lifelong Texas Longhorn fan.
He is survived by his son, Conrad (and Elizabeth); grandchildren, Kelby, Madison, and Chaiden; and a great granddaughter, Avery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at North Dallas Funeral Home at 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234. The Celebration of Life service will be at the same location on Thursday, April 6, 2023, at 10:00 am with interment at Whitehouse Cemetery in Whitehouse, Texas at 2:00 pm.

We are completely devastated. We have celebrated birthdays with Gerry for many years. I guess it has been about twenty years I have known him and never once in that time was he anything but cheery and helpful when I saw him. He never said goodbye when we parted company; it was always “See you around the campus…”. We’ll look for you, Gerry.
