Obituary of
Franklin Cordell White
Franklin Cordell White, or ‘Cordell’ as he was called by his friends and family, passed away Monday, July 3rd. He was born April 7, 1941 in Jackson, MS. preceding him in death were his parents Homer Franklin White and Winnie Mae Freeman White of Palestine, TX, as well as his sister Arlene Smith.
Cordell is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Glynda Kay White of Garland, TX, and his daughter Judy Nichols and her husband Marty Nichols of Leander, TX, granddaughters Riley and Mackenzie Nichols, whom he was very proud of, and stepchildren Terri Lynn French and Neal French. He is also survived by siblings whom he dearly loved: Wincie White Caskey and her husband Carl, of Noonday, TX, Bob White and his wife Lana of Palestine, and extended family and close friends.
Cordell grew up in Jackson, MS and Palestine, TX, where he graduated from Palestine High School in 1959. He went to college at SMU and the University of North Texas, where he ultimately graduated in 1967 with a bachelor’s degree in marketing. Cordell was a member of, and a deacon for, Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, TX. He was a retired Financial Advisor from Raymond James and, prior to that, he spent years with AG Edwards. He even dabbled a short time as an author, writing a book in his later years called My Eight Minutes in Heaven. When he wasn’t bragging about his granddaughters, he was often with his Sunday School class at Prestonwood Baptist Church or his retired neighbors in the retirement community where he resided, with Kay.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2 PM, Thursday July 20th: Prestonwood Baptist Church – Faith Chapel 6801 West Park Blvd Plano, TX 75093 The family will receive friends in the Fireside Room Immediately following the service.
