Obituary of
Cheli Burke Myers
Following an illness, Cheli Burke Myers of Farmers Branch, TX, was called to her heavenly home on August 27, 2023, while surrounded by her family at home. Cheli was born December 2, 1952, in Wayne County, Kentucky to Ray & Vera Burke.
She was a 1970 graduate of Chrisney High School in Chrisney, IN. She attended the University of Evansville for a year and then moved and lived in various locations until she moved to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area in 1975. Cheli was a hard worker and had multiple jobs over the next several years as she continued her education and received her BA in accounting. In 1990, Cheli accepted a part-time bookkeeping position with the newly founded consulting firm, Wrightson, Johnson, Haddon & Williams in Dallas. This company and its leadership became her family. Over the next 25+ years, she flourished at the company, involving herself in all aspects of the business, and eventually retired
from the company as majority stockholder and president of the firm.
Cheli was a Christian and a faithful member of Christ Our King Church in Southlake, TX, and spiritually grew under the teaching and counseling of Pastor David Whittington and wife, Rose.
Cheli loved her country and was very patriotic. In the early 1980’s those passions led her to participate into the political processes. She loved watching sports! She was an avid Dallas Mavs fan, and could be caught on camera during games cheering them on and beating her thunder sticks! She loved to travel with her sister, Jan. Over the years, Aunt Che & Aunt Jan took several of their nieces and nephews on wonderful trips that often included a ball game. Going home to Indiana to visit her parents and family would usually include ferocious card games. She was competitive which made it all the more fun to beat her if you were against her or fun to have her on your team if you were winning. She loved her family, church, and friends but above all she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and faithfully served and trusted Him.
She was preceded in death by her father, Ray C. Burke, and sister, Jerine Paddock. She is survived by her mother, Vera Burke; sister, Debbie (Mike) Sisley; sister, Jan Burke; brother, Ray (Catherine) Burke; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Many thanks to her sister, Jan, for her care for Cheli these last few months. Over the years, they took care of each other and lived life together.
Words cannot convey the great love and respect for this fun-loving, loyal, and generous lady that we call daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.
Arrangements are with the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, TX. Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. on Friday, September 1, 2023. A Celebration of Cheli’s Life will immediately follow at 6:00 p.m. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to her church, Christ Our King.
Cheli will be laid to rest in New Hope Cemetery in Newtonville, Indiana. Cheli’s Celebration of Life Service in Indiana will be determined at a later date.

Sending love and peaceful thoughts to her family. Cheli was my godmother and always treated me like family; she even took me on a trip to meet all of her family in Indiana once, which is one of my fondest memories. She was funny and passionate and fun to be around, and she will be missed.
