Betty Jean (Porter) Cason was known by her family and friends as Betty, Jean, Moma, Nan,
Nana, and Mrs. Cason. She loved being a Christian, and most of all, she loved her family and
friends. She was a person you could always depend on to welcome you with open arms, a kind
word, and definitely a prayer with some anointing oil.

Betty Jean (Porter) Cason was born on April 19, 1934, in Shreveport, LA, to Emma Gray
Huggins Mackey and Wherlen Porter. She grew up in Shreveport, LA, and became a Christian
of the Catholic faith at an early age. She attended school and graduated from Booker T.
Washington High School. Betty worked for Shreveport Western Electric for over 30 years before
retiring. She has been a devoted Catholic Christian member of Our Lady of the Blessed
Sacrament and Sacred Hearts Church of Shreveport, Louisiana. After relocating to Texas, she
became a faithful member of St. Gabriel the Archangel Church of McKinney, TX, until her
transition to the Lord on September 6, 2022.

Betty entered a union of marriage to Vernon Cason Sr., and four children were born to their
union. Three sons, Vernon Jr. (Sonny), Allan (Baba), Patrick, and one daughter, Lesha. She
also raised her first grandchild, Caronda, as her own.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Lara and Sammie, her mother Emma
and father Wherlen, her beloved son Vernon, Jr. (Sonny), and two grand fur babies, Jessie and
Jack.

Betty leaves to carry on her legacy and cherish her memories, one brother, Daryl Porter (Los
Angeles, CA); two sons and one daughter, Allan (Baba)Cason (Sandra) of Rockwall, TX, Patrick
Cason (Denise) of Plano, TX, Lesha Cason of McKinney, TX; eight grandchildren, Caronda
