“I highly recommend this funeral home and crematorium; when I had to make and pay for my brother’s arrangements across state lines, Evelyn Montonya, in particular, demonstrated both compassion and professionalism and made a very sad and difficult situation much easier. Many thanks.”

Obituary of
Barbara Senick
Barbara Leah Senick, 88, passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 30, 2023 in Dallas, Texas.
Barbara was born in Detroit, Michigan on November 22, 1934, the daughter of Leo Swehla and Kathleen Tyrer Swehla. Her greatest job was being a mother and grandmother to her two sons and grandsons. She was loved not only by her family but many friends who cherished her companionship.
A cancer and brain tumor survivor, Barbara is survived by her two sons, Craig Senick and his wife Marlo, and Todd Senick both of Dallas, Texas. Her grandchildren Colin Senick and Grant Senick as well as her many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Leo and Kathleen Swehla, as well as her sisters Frances Spencer, Jean Porter, Betty Hawkins, and Eileen Walker.
In addition to raising a family in Ohio and Texas, she loved the desert southwest of Arizona. Outside of Texas, she spent a good portion of her life living in Phoenix and Prescott, AZ. After the birth of her grandchildren, she moved back to the Dallas area. Many fond memories of Barbara were on the golf course in the summer and snow skiing in the winter, and in her later years playing cards and spending time on the baseball field watching her grandsons play ball. For the last few years of her life, she spent time close by where she enjoyed her friends in the independent community for which she lived. It was home to her, and she will be greatly missed by those lives she touched.
Memorial services will be held at the Emerson on Harvest Hill, 5550 Harvest Hill, Dallas, Texas, on June 10, 2023 at 10:30 am.
In lieu of flowers, please kindly consider making a donation in her name to Canine Companions of Irving as she loved dogs and their unconditional love, affection, and companionship.
