Obituary of Andrew (Rod) Duncan

Andrew (Rod) Duncan, 73, passed away on January 23rd at home in Farmers Branch, Texas.

Raised in Corvallis, Oregon, Rod was an accomplished Eagle Scout, Senior Electronics Engineer in the Navy, and enjoyed a long career as a Flight Simulator Technician until his retirement. His work allowed him to travel the world.

Rod had a joyful spirit and was known for his welcoming smile. He loved his family and spending time with his grandchildren more than anything. Rod expressed his joy through music, learning to play several instruments and calling square dancing. He enjoyed investing his time volunteering with local youth sports. Supporting healthy fun and community fed his soul. He had an incredible ability to encourage others, making them feel seen and valued for who they are. He will be remembered dearly for his open heart.

Rod is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary J. Duncan, daughters Cindy Anderson and Heather Hunter, sisters Bonnie Duncan and Laura Duncan, grandchildren Lauren Anderson, Dean Anderson, Dylan Bell, Logan Bell, Christian Wright, Connor Duncan, Cora Duncan, and Collin Duncan, several neices and nephews, and treasured extended family across the US and overseas. He is preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Hazel, son Andrew (Marty) Duncan, and brother Ian Duncan.

A celebration of life with military honors will be held Saturday, February 18th at 2:00pm at the North Dallas Funeral Home located at 2710 Valley View Lane, Dallas, TX 75234.

Please honor Rod’s legacy by volunteering an afternoon of your time, sharing fun and improving your own community. Send pictures!
