Dear Kirk, Kellie, Melinda, & Sam – The air left my body when I saw Matt’s obituary in the KC Star today. I can’t tell you how many times I think about all the sound technicians I trained at Timothy, because they were “my” kids. I love each and every one of them. I loved working with Matt. What a neat young man! I’m so sorry for your loss. This saddens my heart so much for you. Please, know I’ll keep all of you in my prayers, as you try to adapt to life without Matt. Thank God, we’ll see him in heaven someday, and it will be a great reunion. My deepest sympathy to all of you. – Linda Kueck

    Remembrance
    by Cindy Edwards
The night follows day, the moon in the sky
    The world keeps on turning
It goes and it comes, it comes and it goes again
    Which ever direction nobody knows

The wind in the sails, water covers the earth
The day of your birth and the day of your death
Mile after mile and after a while the warmth of your heart
The shine of your smile, the memories of love that’s all we have left
    Remembrance is a golden chain
Death tries to break, all in vain.
To have, to love, and then to part
is the greatest sorrow of one’s heart.

We all stand beside you ,we all love you still
We’re missing you now and forever we will
We sing and we talk the world in our hands
We run and we walk while beside us you stand
For those who remain don’t let your love wait
When they’re no longer here it’s already too late
So we roll the days over again and again
And where we have ended, it’s where we begin
    Remembrance is a golden chain
Death tries to break, but all in vain.
To have, to love, and then to part
is the greatest sorrow of one’s heart.

The years may wipe out many things
but some they will never wipe out
Like memories of those happy times
    when we were all together.

And Yes — stars they come and light — yes they bring
The miracle of life, a beautiful thing
We know not where we’re going, we just know where we’ve been
    Remembrance is a golden chain

    Kirk, Kellie, Melinda, and Family,

I am so sorry for your loss. I too read Matt’s obituary in The Star, and feel such a deep sadness for all of you. I didn’t know you’d moved from Blue Springs, but had often thought about Matt through the years since he was in my first grade class at James Walker. He was such a nice kid! I’ll always remember his “Round ’em up and move ’em out! (That’s what my dad says!)” As a mom, I can only imagine the suffering you are experiencing, and my prayers go out for you. I hope that time and wonderful memories will ease your grief.

The first day Matt walked into the VFW, we knew we had a new friend and brother. I don’t think that I have ever seen anyone assimilate into the family so quickly. He was so excited when he joined the motorcycle group, and his face just light up the first time he put on his vest. I can truly say that Matt was the nicest person I’ve ever met. At the VFW, we are used to seeing our family members passing on, but loosing Matt has broken our hearts. Our deepest sympathy to Kirk, Kellie, Melinda and Sam.

To me words cannot describe a best friend. I’ve known Matt for a very long time we grew up together in the Blue Spring area. Matt and I have been best friends since kindergarten. Matt was a one of a kind friend that will always be in my thoughts. If it was not for him me being a shy person to girls when we were in school I just might have never met the love of my life Heather that he asked out for me one day on the school bus. I thank him every day for that. My wife and I have been married almost 10 years now and together for almost 15 years again I thank Matt. I will miss talking to you all those times when we would play call of duty on the Xbox and would just trash talk all the players. Heaven has gotten an Angel and I hope he is looking down on his family every day to keep them safe. Matt I love you buddy and miss you.

Matt was such a bright light at the VFW. He always had a kind word and funny anecdote, no matter how he was feeling. We will miss him so much. RIP my friend.

"I highly recommend this funeral home and crematorium; when I had to make and pay for my brother’s arrangements across state lines, Evelyn Montonya, in particular, demonstrated both compassion and professionalism and made a very sad and difficult situation much easier. Many thanks."

"The unexpected passing of my husband was a very difficult and trying time for my boys and I. I had the good fortune of having Abel walk us thru this process. Working with him was such a weight off my shoulders. He was professional, so polite and helpful. The service was beautiful – never did I feel rushed or like just another customer. They gave me the time I needed and I appreciate that so much! Also Mr. Brooks took special care of my husband as he is a fellow mason. I would highly recommend working with Abel and North Dallas Funeral Home."

"Everyone at North Dallas Funeral Home was very professional, kind, and caring, in all steps of the process from the first phone call to the service held at their location. "As soon as the call was made to Mr. Wayne Baxter all of my brothers final needs were taken care of. They walked me through what to expect the timeline and even dealt with the cemetery and the grave diggers. I was a hot mess due to my brothers sudden and unexpected passing. The experience was seamless and made it easy for my brother’s friends and family to say their last goodbyes. They even had the size to accommodate such a large group that showed up . The package deals that they offered were cost-effective and didn’t break my bank account. They included extras and accommodations that other funeral homes charged extra for. All the staff was amazing including Mr. Don Dodd . I can not thank them enough for all their help."

Dear John,

It was such a nice pleasure to meet you, and what you had planned for my father just took my breath away. It was so special to hear you tell us how he would just come over to talk with you. I think it brought him much comfort. Thank you for putting that Air Force article of him on your website. I am going to have a replica made of the painting of his plane to give you.

Thank you again for all you have done to honor our dad.

Love, The Gillilands
