Obituary of Chambers, Dena Lee

Dena Lee Chambers was born on August 29th, 1963, the second child of
Nancy and Hugo Chambers and sister to Brian. The Chambers raised their
children in the Dallas area. Dena was a Football Manager and Boys Basketball
Manager for the Colonels and graduated from South Garland High School in
1982.
After High School Dena got married and had her precious baby boy Jake.
She spent those early years enjoying motherhood which was her absolute first passion. Dena
later attended East Texas State University in Commerce, TX (now Texas A&M Commerce),
where, while caring for
her 7-8 year old son Jake, she earned her B.S. degree in Education. After attaining that degree,
she began her lifelong dream of being an elementary teacher. She taught at GISD for many years
and most recently was teaching 3rd grade at Texas Online Preparatory Elementary School. A kind,
gentle and sweet soul who made an amazing impact on so many children she taught. She will be
remembered and missed by all her students and their parents as one of their favorite and best
teachers.
Dena loved to take road trips with her son Jake. Together they traveled to Mount Rushmoretwice, Las Vegas, Bear Country, South Dakota, and Kenosha, WI where Jake’s Godchild and
Dena’s favorite little one, Maggie, lives. Together they searched out so many of the unusual and
unique places that you can only discover by taking to the road that way.
Dena loved all sports but especially hockey and football and she was the ultimate fan, watching
her Dallas Cowboys and Stars games with Jake whenever they were on. She was the most fervent
of Pinterest collectors and loved crafting of all types. This was most apparent in her love for her
Close to My Heart friends. A card or scrapbook by Dena was a work not just of art, but of love.
She put her soul into making things beautiful and perfect.
Dena passed away on December 14, 2021. She is survived by Jake, her loving son; her mother
Nancy Chambers; her nephew Austin Chambers; many cousins and countless friends. Dena
was preceded in death by her beloved brother Brian; her father Hugo; her Aunt Becky and her
Grandparents.
There will be a Memorial Service celebrating her life
