Obituary of Hathcoat, Patricia Griffin

Patricia (Pat) Griffin Hathcoat was born on May 15, 1953, to R. T. Griffin and Geneva Ann (Byram) Griffin in Mt. Pleasant, Texas. As the oilfields offered job opportunities, the family relocated to Winnsboro, Texas. Pat was a graduate of Winnsboro High School. After graduating, she married Ron Hathcoat on May 29, 1971, and they soon moved to Ft. Worth. Pat attended Tarrant County College and later Texas Women's University. She was an accredited member of the Professional Administrator Credentialing Board of Texas during her preschool directorship years at Stonebridge Learning Center, McKinney; Primrose at Chase Oaks, Plano; and the two La Petite Academies in Plano and Allen. Pat for the past 15 years was an active member of the East Fork Baptist Church where she served as teacher, pianist and choir member as long as her health permitted. And of course, she was a pastor's wife. Her career in childhood education was shortened due to a liver disease. In 2002, after being on the national transplant list for 3 years, she received a liver transplant. At that time the doctors at Baylor University Medical Center projectedĀ  that her life was extended by approximate ten year, but they were wrong. The Lord extended her life for 18 years! And during those years Pat became interested in porcelain art, and it was not long before she was teaching porcelain art to her young students in Celina. She served as an officer in the North Texas Porcelain Art Club of McKinney as well as in the China Painting Teachers of Texas. Pat is survived by her husband of 50 years, Rev. Ron Hathcoat of Celina, Texas; three sons: Ronnie Hathcoat, Nashville, Tennessee; Michael Hathcoat & Jenifer Ellis of Carrollton Texas; Stephen Hathcoat and Karen Hathcoat, Allen, Texas; and, one brother, Dwayne Griffin and wife Becky Griffin of Alto Texas.Ā Ā And, of course, let's not forget the grandchildren! There is Justin Hathcoat, Austin Texas; Hallie Hathcoat, Tom Bean Texas; Lucas Hathcoat, Tom Bean, Texas; Brittney Hathcoat, Sachse Texas; Kayla Hathcoat, Texarkana Texas; Kallan Hathcoat, McGregor Texas; Chelsea Hathcoat, Pilot Point, Texas; Kelly Schwab, Katherine Schwab, Nathan Schwab and Julie Schwab of Allen Texas. Numerous other family members and friends. Pat was preceded in death by her parents R.T. Griffin and Geneva Griffin Phelps and sister Brenda Strawbridge. The family will be receiving friends for visitation and viewing on Friday, October 8, 2021 from 9:30 am to 11:00 am at East Fork Baptist Church, 2430 FM546, McKinney, TX 75069.Ā  The Celebration of Life service will begin at 11:00 am with Rev. Jack May officiating.Ā  A procession will follow services to Wilson Chapel Cemetery, 100 Chapel Lane @ Bridgefarmer Road, McKinney, TX 75069 where Pat will be laid to rest.

    Dear Ron,
I thought of you today so I googled you. and you and your Family. I was saddened that you have lost your dear Pat. I am so glad you have such a large family including grandchildren! We have lived in Houston for twenty years and our daughters are here as well. Junius and I are still working part time. I am still in the insurance business focusing on the medicare market. We will celebrate our 50th anniversary on February 5th. We had hope to have celebration with friends and family but have decided that that is not prudent given Covid. I would love to catch up as I have always admired you. My cell is 281 682 6697 and email is louallen57@gmail.comand address is 12222 Cabo Blanco Ct, Houston Tx 77041. If you have time I would love to hear from you! Blessings , Lou

Remembering the small getaways to Lake Ray Roberts, chasing a little white piece of puppy fluff down the street, enjoying wonderful cooking, chasing Max the Cat all around the house to catch him to take to vet, sharing giggles and tears, conversations about putting a gate in the fence in the back yard, eating apples at the picnic table on my patio, sharing at East Fork Church. Pat will be my forever friend.
