Plan Ahead

Megeff, Natalie Joyce

It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Natalie Megeff of Southlake, Texas.  Natalie passed away after a brief illness on May 13, 2021 at the age of 87.  The loss of her sense of humor, positive attitude, determination, and friendly nature that touched so many people’s lives create a void that will not easily be filled.  Natalie was proceeded in death by her parents, infant son Mitchell, husband Norman, and son Keith.  She is survived by her sister Diane Hubert of Paris, France, daughter Kyle Megeff Mills and son-in-law Myron Mills of Keller, Texas, daughter-in-law Cruz Ana Perez de Megeff of Granada, Nicaragua, granddaughter Tammy Yoars and grandson-in-law Aaron Yoars, and great grandsons Tyler, Wesley, and Mason Yoars of Bunker Hill, Indiana.

Natalie was a remarkable, dynamic, and multi-talented woman who pursued life’s many adventures and loved to travel.  She graduated from Alamo Heights High School in San Antonio, Texas.  As a young woman, Natalie was a member of the synchronized swimming team in the Lone Star Aquacade at the Lone Star Brewery in San Antonio, and for a time she raced rally cars.  She earned a BA in Business Administration from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University).  During her lengthy career, Natalie enjoyed many diverse occupations including teaching English at the language school at Lackland Air Force Base, teaching high school and vocational education, researching mineral rights for multiple oil companies, market research, various sales positions, working for the US Census Bureau, and as a contract analyst for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).  She retired as a case worker from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in 2012.  Her life-long interest in travel took her to countless locales in the United States, including Alaska, and she travelled internationally to Germany, China, France, Costa Rica, Panama, Nicaragua, Spain, Israel, Italy, Russia, Canada, and Mexico.  She was still travelling abroad into her 80’s.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Natalie was not one to put down roots in any one location for long.  During her life, she lived in Patchogue, New York; Woodland Hills, California; Saginaw, Michigan; Elgin, Illinois; several locations in San Antonio, Texas; Three Rivers, Houston, Dallas, Richardson, Denton, Bedford, Carrolton, and Southlake, Texas.

Later in life, her hobbies and interests included pottery and jewelry making, sewing, knitting, travel, reading, and spending time with friends and family.

Natalie is to be interred in the National Cemetery at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas alongside her husband Norman and son Mitchell.  The funeral is a private family service.  Anyone wishing to attend who is not already aware of the details should call (940) 765-3090 for information.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Natalie’s name to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) of Texas,, (214) 461-1831.

"I highly recommend this funeral home and crematorium; when I had to make and pay for my brother’s arrangements across state lines, Evelyn Montonya, in particular, demonstrated both compassion and professionalism and made a very sad and difficult situation much easier. Many thanks."

"The unexpected passing of my husband was a very difficult and trying time for my boys and I. I had the good fortune of having Abel walk us thru this process. Working with him was such a weight off my shoulders. He was professional, so polite and helpful. The service was beautiful – never did I feel rushed or like just another customer. They gave me the time I needed and I appreciate that so much! Also Mr. Brooks took special care of my husband as he is a fellow mason. I would highly recommend working with Abel and North Dallas Funeral Home."

"As soon as the call was made to Mr. Wayne Baxter all of my brothers final needs were taken care of. They walked me through what to expect the timeline and even dealt with the cemetery and the grave diggers. I was a hot mess due to my brothers sudden and unexpected passing. The experience was seamless and made it easy for my brother’s friends and family to say their last goodbyes. They even had the size to accommodate such a large group that showed up . The package deals that they offered were cost-effective and didn’t break my bank account. They included extras and accommodations that other funeral homes charged extra for. All the staff was amazing including Mr. Don Dodd . I can not thank them enough for all their help."

Dear John,

It was such a nice pleasure to meet you, and what you had planned for my father just took my breath away. It was so special to hear you tell us how he would just come over to talk with you. I think it brought him much comfort. Tha you for putting that Air Force article of him on your website. I am going to have a replica made of the painting of his plane to give you.

Thank you again for all you have done to honor our dad.

Love, The Gillilands
