Obituary of Hasson Jr, William Haywood (Bill)

William Haywood (Bill) Hasson, Jr., of Coppell, Texas passed away on Thursday, April 15, 2021 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s at the age of 67. Bill was born Aug.5, 1953, in Union Springs, Alabama, to William Haywood Hasson, Sr. and Dean Chancey Hasson. After graduating from Wills High School in Smyrna, Georgia, he earned a degree in Business Administration from the University of Georgia in 1975. Bill worked briefly in banking in Georgia and Kentucky before moving to Houston and taking a job with Litton Industries. From there he moved to Dallas and began a 17-year career with John Hancock. He ended his career with AIG as a managing director of private placements. A life-long sports fan, Bill participated in football, basketball, baseball, track, tennis, and bowling. Recreationally, he also enjoyed golf, scuba diving, cycling, skiing, street hockey, and ping pong. Bill was also an avid traveler. In addition to time spent touring the U.S., he visited Singapore, Malaysia, France, Mongolia, China, Mexico, Canada, and Italy. On Sept. 22, 1984, he married Marsha Dove. He is survived by her and their two sons, Chase (wife Julia) and Drew. Other survivors include sisters Debra Hasson and Arlene Martin. Special thanks are extended to family and friends who supported Bill and traveled with him on this journey. A video tribute honoring Bill is online at North Dallas Funeral Home. Our delay in posting a ‘condolence’ is because it takes time to put into words what a special co-worker and friend Bill was. He was the epitome of the salesman – he could sell an ice machine to an entire Eskimo village and they’d come back wanting to buy more. Despite the abundance of b.s., his spark, his energy, his passion and his love of his family rooted him solidly. Alzheimers is an insidious disease and it is beyond cruel that it claimed Bill as one of ‘theirs’. He is sorely missed.

    Marsha,
What a long and difficult journey this has been for you and your family. You have handled this situation with such grace, patience, and love. Bill could not have asked for a better wife and partner and the boys are so lucky to have you as their strength and rock. Their is sunshine ahead but in the meantime lean on family, friends and faith. Bill is in a beautiful place and he made wonderful memories for you and the boys to cherish. Love and prayers always. One day Bill and I were golfing and he was a little forgetful some days. Like not having a ball or a tee and I would tell him what to do. We finally got him straighten out and I said one thing to many. Bill said would you shut up so I could hit the ball. You all have my deepest condolences.
