  1. Susan McMurray says:

On this, my sister’s birthday, I am rereading the beautiful tributes here. Thank you deeply to each of you for your time and care….and for seeing Marcia as the uniquely gifted and generous woman she was. Words seem paltry things as I try to capture all she meant to me. She was the crafter of our family heirlooms, the historian of family records, my cheerleader, the keeper of my secrets and my childhood. Thank you again to those who, by sharing my sorrow, help to ease it.

My mother, Marion McMurray, was Joe McMurray’s, (Marcia’s grandfather), first cousin. Visting in McMurray,PA, in the 1950’s, I always heard about the Joe and Nan McMurrays and their sons, Jim and Bill.
The Peters Township Library in McMurray has a wonderful McMurray Family legacy thanks to Jim and Bill, and I know Marcia was proud of their work. She too, was involved in this history of the McMurrary family. I am so very sorry for your loss and I wish I could have met Marcia face to face; our talks on the phone were always very nice.

Marcia was a very sweet lady, enthusiastic about life itself. Such a joy to be around as she conveyed that enthusiasiasm and love of life to all she came in contact with. She was truly an asset to our John L. DeGrazier Eastern Star Chapter.

What a sad, sad day to hear of the passing of this sweet lady. Although not mentioned in her obituary, Marcia was a member of John L. DeGrazier #881, Order of the Eastern Star, of which she held an office. She was one of the nicest lady’s I have met in a long time. She will be dearly missed by the Sisters of this Fraternal Order.

  7. Ed & Cindy Crooks says:

    David, Daniel, James and Susan

Cindy and I are stunned to hear of Marcia’s passing.
In childhood, cousins – Jim Phero, Susan and Marcia McMurray, my sister, Ginna and I – all similar ages, became fast friends when the McMurrays visited Clarion – mostly spending time with one another at Phero’s camp – celebrating the Crooks Family reunion.

Although our visits were infrequent, we had lots in common and enjoyed each other’s company. More recently, I reconnected with Marcia exchanging ancestral family notes and information.

Marcia was a special human being – truly interested in all with whom she had contact. We know that she loved her family and that the way she lived her life, full of integrity is an example we all strive to emulate. Marcia had the right perspective on the qualities of life that truly matter.

We know Marcia now delights in her new spiritual body and is having an incredible reunion with her beloved parents, Phillys and Jim and Grandmother, Edna.

We mourn with you at this difficult time and pray that you find peace and understanding. Ed & Cindy Crooks

Marcia always had an insightful comment when our book group met, even when we strayed from discussing the book and delved into what was currently on our minds. I wish I’d met her years ago… like you, her loved ones, the span of our relationship was way too brief!
