He then attended Southern Methodist University on a tennis scholarship, majored in business, and played tennis competitively for three years until he enlisted to serve in the United States Army. He was assigned to the army hospital in Stuttgart, Germany and upon his honorable discharge returned to Dallas and began his career in the fire and casualty insurance industry, where he met his life partner and wife, Mary Ann Zapalac. Jack started his own general insurance agency, Adams Special Risk, specializing in surplus lines, and his wife, Mary Ann, worked alongside him. As a devoted father, he enjoyed coaching and referring soccer games, and camping and fishing through the Boy Scouts of America. Jack was a member of the Carrollton Church of Christ. He also served as a board member of the Texas Surplus Lines Association, and was an active member of the Texas Marina Association, and NAPSLO. In the year 2000, Jack sold his business, retired, and with Mary Ann, traveled in the United States and Europe.

Testimonials

It was such a nice pleasure to meet you, and what you had planned for my father just took my breath away. It was so special to hear you tell us how he would just come over to talk with you. I think it brought him much comfort. Tha you for putting that Air Force article of him on your website. I am going to have a replica made of the painting of his plane to give you. Thank you again for all you have done to honor our dad. Love, The Gillilands

Although I was far away in California, we enjoyed phone conversations and emails when he was able. I already miss knowing that I have the best cousin ever to talk to in Texas.
Maryann and family, I am so sorry about your loss. I enjoyed seeing Jack at our neighborhoods board meetings, and walking down the street to get the mail. Maryann, don’t forget that I am always here for you, if you need anything.
We are very sorry for your loss.
