Pelky Sr., Ronald E.

Obituary

Ronald E. Pelky, Sr. Age 86, passed away at his home on Saturday, March 7, 2020.  He began his life in the rural farmlands of Maine. After graduating high school, he joined the United States Air Force and served in the Korean War where he traveled the world. During his travels, he met his wife of almost 65 years Rose Marie. Ron was a proud retiree as a structural engineer from DFW Airport, he managed many of the teams that built several runways, buildings, roads and parking structures. He loved his antique tractors, vintage cars, and RV’ing across the country and spending his summers on the coast in Maine with all their friends. He had friends all over the world and he had the opportunity to have quality conversations with many of them about a month before his passing. If you’re ever in Lubec, go see the veteran’s memorial in the town square and you will find his name listed alongside some of his longtime friends that he served with in the service. He is survived by his wife Rose Marie, his daughter Yvette, his 3 sons Leonard, Ronald, Lawrence and his 4 grandchildren: Christopher, Sebastian, Angela and Lauran.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at 2:00 pm in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234.

It was a sad day when I got the phone call from Lawrence. I rushed to meet him at his dad’s house. Words can’t describe the feeling of helplessness that everyone was going through. I did witness to his last breath he was trying to take care of his wife Rose Marie. She was in a panic to try to get back in to see the love of her life one more time. It was a very sad day but also a happy day know there was no more pain and suffering he had to endure any longer. Ronald Pelky mad his mark on all of us. He always seem to have the answers to any of our problems. He will be missed by so many people but now he has gone to rest with our maker. My heart goes out to all our family’s loss.

A simple life is a happy life”
Y él era feliz con su Rosita en Maine compartiendo su vida sencilla y feliz.

We remember the fun times on our many camping trips, including the many ski trips to New Mexico. Bill (my husband) and Ronald were great friends and loved traveling together. I (Fay) being the navigator, remember the time I dozed off on the way to New Mexico and woke up in Oklahoma! They had missed the important turn heading west! In later years, we enjoyed our trips to Maine to visit with Ronald and Rose Marie. I am sure Ronald and Bill are having a great reunion in heaven and laughing about the good times. Lawrence and I (Jamie) were running buddies on all of these trips! We will miss Ronald and the fun times we all had. Our prayers are with the whole family! Fay and Jamie.

"I highly recommend this funeral home and crematorium; when I had to make and pay for my brother’s arrangements across state lines, Evelyn Montonya, in particular, demonstrated both compassion and professionalism and made a very sad and difficult situation much easier. Many thanks."

"The unexpected passing of my husband was a very difficult and trying time for my boys and I. I had the good fortune of having Abel walk us thru this process. Working with him was such a weight off my shoulders. He was professional, so polite and helpful. The service was beautiful – never did I feel rushed or like just another customer. They gave me the time I needed and I appreciate that so much! Also Mr. Brooks took special care of my husband as he is a fellow mason. I would highly recommend working with Abel and North Dallas Funeral Home."

"As soon as the call was made to Mr. Wayne Baxter all of my brothers final needs were taken care of. They walked me through what to expect the timeline and even dealt with the cemetery and the grave diggers. I was a hot mess due to my brothers sudden and unexpected passing. The experience was seamless and made it easy for my brother’s friends and family to say their last goodbyes. They even had the size to accommodate such a large group that showed up . The package deals that they offered were cost-effective and didn’t break my bank account. They included extras and accommodations that other funeral homes charged extra for. All the staff was amazing including Mr. Don Dodd . I can not thank them enough for all their help."

Dear John,

It was such a nice pleasure to meet you, and what you had planned for my father just took my breath away. It was so special to hear you tell us how he would just come over to talk with you. I think it brought him much comfort. Thank you for putting that Air Force article of him on your website. I am going to have a replica made of the painting of his plane to give you.

Thank you again for all you have done to honor our dad.

Love, The Gillilands
