Obituary
Captain Lawrence C. Lookenbill USMC Ret., 80, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2019 at his home in McKinney, Texas. He was born August 16, 1938 in South Hanover, Pennsylvania. After graduating from Elizabethtown High School in 1955, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he served our country from 1955 to 1983, including two tours in Vietnam. During his 28 years of dedicated service he received numerous commendations. It was during his service that he met Francoise Garnot, whom he married on June 23, 1973 in Los Angeles, California. They raised 3 children together: Valerie, Derric, and Damien. He dedicated his life to his family and country, proudly serving as the Base Sergeant Major of Camp Pendleton from October 1982 to November 1983 and retired from the Marine Corp as a Captain.
Lawrence loved to run, play cards, paint, golf, fish, hunt, and tell a good story. He especially enjoyed eating Francoise’s gourmet cooking with her and their children and grandchildren on Sunday evenings.
Lawrence is survived by his wife, Francoise Lookenbill of McKinney, TX; Daughter, Valerie McClennahan and husband Gary of Tulsa, OK; Son, Derric Lookenbill and wife Sara of McKinney, TX; Son, Damien Lookenbill and wife Stephanie of Plano, TX; Four Grandsons: Stefan McClennahan, Kyle McClennahan, Devin Lookenbill, and Judson Lookenbill; Two Granddaughters: Sophia Lookenbill and Scarlett Lookenbill; Siblings: Anna Krall, Millie Moore, and Bradley Lookenbill. Also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Lawrence is preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Kathryn Lookenbill; Brother, Raymond Lookenbill; Infant son, Steven Lookenbill from a previous marriage.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held in the Brooks Family Chapel at the North Dallas Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM.

A full military honors ceremony will be held at a date to be determined at The Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
