Obituary

Sterling Durant “Sonny” Humbert, son of Michael Lee Humbert and Brenda Gale Humbert was born February 22, 1991 in Dallas, Texas. Sterling joined the U.S. Army while still in high school at the young age of 17. He graduated from Newman Smith in 2009. While in the Army, he went to work at UPS where he was quickly advanced to Supervisor. Sterling managed working full time, attending college and serving in the U.S. Military. As a result of his generous spirit and humble personality, he was loved by many. His influence will forever remain in the lives of all who knew him. He enjoyed working out, playing video games and spending time with his family, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He unexpectedly departed this life Saturday, February 23, 2019, the day after his 28th birthday.

His beautiful life will forever be cherished and remembered in the lives of his family and friends. He is survived by his dog, Spanky Humbert; father, Michael Humbert and bonus mom, Deborah Humbert; mother, Brenda Humbert; his grandparents, DL Cantrell and Anita “Bammer” Bass; his sisters, Desiree Humbert, and husband, Courtney Gatlin, Brittany Humbert and husband, Gino Van Kuilenburg, Shelbi Keay and husband, J.R. My sincere and deepest condolences to the entire Humbert family on your tragic loss. From the first day I met Sonny when he was about 3 or 4 years old, with his big eyes and blonde spiked hair, (mini Mike) to the last 10 years when he came to the office always gave me a big “mamma” hug. My heart is broken for the Humbert family. There is another Angel in Heaven.

Sonny. Life defiantly ain’t the same. Sorry I wasn’t a good of friend as you were to me. Even they hardships we faced you never let your morals backslide. I am damn fortunate enough to say that I was blessed to be a part of your life. You might of been younger than me but I looked up to you and was proud to say you were my friend. When I found out that I was too fucked up to go to memorial and found out that I was in eulogy. That’s when it really hit me. I mean look it’s a year and a half later and just now saying something. Im sorry that I wasn’t there for you like you were for me. but also thank you for having a good heart. You know us kids are a reflection of our parents. I could only imagine how hard it is for them but they raised a damn good man. Gods in control. Love you sonny. See you on the other side.

"I highly recommend this funeral home and crematorium; when I had to make and pay for my brother’s arrangements across state lines, Evelyn Montonya, in particular, demonstrated both compassion and professionalism and made a very sad and difficult situation much easier. Many thanks."

"The unexpected passing of my husband was a very difficult and trying time for my boys and I. I had the good fortune of having Abel walk us thru this process. Working with him was such a weight off my shoulders. He was professional, so polite and helpful. The service was beautiful – never did I feel rushed or like just another customer. They gave me the time I needed and I appreciate that so much! Also Mr. Brooks took special care of my husband as he is a fellow mason. I would highly recommend working with Abel and North Dallas Funeral Home."

"Everyone at North Dallas Funeral Home was very professional, kind, and caring, in all steps of the process from the first phone call to the service held at their location. They help to make the process as easy and comforting in my opinion as to be expected, I would recommend their service to anyone. Thank You to everyone who helped me and my family. Sincerely,"

"As soon as the call was made to Mr. Wayne Baxter all of my brothers final needs were taken care of. They walked me through what to expect the timeline and even dealt with the cemetery and the grave diggers. I was a hot mess due to my brothers sudden and unexpected passing. The experience was seamless and made it easy for my brother’s friends and family to say their last goodbyes. They even had the size to accommodate such a large group that showed up . The package deals that they offered were cost-effective and didn’t break my bank account. They included extras and accommodations that other funeral homes charged extra for. All the staff was amazing including Mr. Don Dodd . I can not thank them enough for all their help."

Dear John,

It was such a nice pleasure to meet you, and what you had planned for my father just took my breath away. It was so special to hear you tell us how he would just come over to talk with you. I think it brought him much comfort. Tha you for putting that Air Force article of him on your website. I am going to have a replica made of the painting of his plane to give you.

Thank you again for all you have done to honor our dad.

Love, The Gillilands
