Pena, Mary F. (Maria Francisca) (Frances)
Obituary
Maria Francisca Peña, affectionately known as Frances, of Laredo, Texas, left this earth on Monday morning, February 13, 2017. Frances was born in Laredo, Texas on June 18, 1951 and although she would later move to Dallas, Texas she would always consider Laredo home. She loved unconditionally and always had the most infectious smile and vibrant personality. She loved traveling to the casino to play slot machines, spending time with her sisters, calling loved ones to sing them Happy Birthday, making sure you knew what you got for Christmas before you opened the gift and most importantly – living for her family. A beloved and generous daughter, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and godmother, Frances always put her family first.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Juan M. and Estella Puente; sister, Mary Alice Puente and her brother, Julio Puente.
She is survived by her loving and caring children Jennifer Puente (Dallas, Texas) and Raul Peña III (San Antonio, Texas); grandchildren, Jazmyn and Benjamin; devoted sisters, Beatriz Lopez and her husband, Javier Lopez (Laredo, Texas), Sylvia Sanchez and her husband, Manuel Villa (Dallas, Texas), Juanita Puente (McKinney, Texas), Lydia Rogerio & her husband, Jesse Rogerio (Laredo, Texas); brothers Roy Puente (Garland, Texas), Juan Puente (Garland, Texas), Reymundo Puente (Mesquite, Texas) as well as several nieces and nephews.
The service for Frances Peña will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 10:00 am in the Brooks Family Chapel at North Dallas Funeral Home located at 2710 Valley View Lane Dallas, Texas 75234.

It was such a nice pleasure to meet you, and what you had planned for my father just took my breath away. It was so special to hear you tell us how he would just come over to talk with you. I think it brought him much comfort. Tha you for putting that Air Force article of him on your website. I am going to have a replica made of the painting of his plane to give you. Thank you again for all you have done to honor our dad. Love, The Gillilands

My heart is broken for all of you at the news of the passing of Frances. I know how much she loved her family and how much you all loved her. She loved her “work” family almost as much and I can’t tell you how many wonderful memories I have of working with Frances, Sylvia, Eddie, Karen, Jay, Bart, John and the PAMCO family for all those years. Frances was a dear, dear friend and always will remain in my heart. I so miss those days–laughing, hearing her sing, hearing her explode and telling it like it was. She was truly one of a kind and this world became a little darker on Monday.
I am glad her suffering is over and can’t imagine the singing and laughter that is going on in heaven as she has joined the angels in heaven, just as she had the heart of an angel while on earth.
When I think of Frances I think of her determination, her great love, her kindness and generosity and her precious family. I love you Frances and will always treasure our friendship.
Love and prayers for you all in these coming days and beyond. She will always live in our hearts!!
Love always,
Anita Goble

We express our dear condolences in the loss of a great woman. Maria Frances, my sister Irma, and I grew up in the same Laredo neighborhood and we befriended each other as young children. Maria Frances will be dearly missed as she was loved by many because of her spontaneous, loving, caring, charismatic personality.
