Robyn and Randy, I was shocked when I saw Jackie’s post on Facebook about Gayle’s passing. I don’t remember not knowing your family. I see by your cousin Sherrie’s post I was not your first teenage babysitter oh I mean companion for the summer. Your mom’s smile could brighten up the gloomiest of days. She was well loved and will be missed by so many. Prayers for your families.

  9. Sherrie Pittman says:

There aren’t enough words to say how much I loved my Aunt Gayle. She was truly a blessing in my life and was so dear to me. I have wonderful memories of her, my grandmother, my mother and Aunt Donna sitting at my mother’s kitchen table talking and laughing. My ears would perk up when they began gossiping about movie stars – I especially remember how outraged they were when Eddie Fisher left Debbie Reynolds for Elizabeth Taylor. Aunt Gayle always reminded me of Debbie Reynolds, so pretty, perky and full of laughter. She had the most delightful laugh of anyone that I have ever known. My sister and I always thought and still think that my mother, Aunt Gayle and Aunt Donna were as glamorous as the movie stars they gossiped about.

I was also blessed to live with Aunt Gayle and Uncle Bill during the summers of 62 and 63 when they offered me a job to stay in their home taking care of Robin while Aunt Gayle went to work. Not only did I have lots of fun playing the day away with Robin, but cooked a little and learned to wash clothes… Randy was nearly my age, however he had other things to do and wasn’t around much during the day. I was paid $20 a week and became very rich by the end of each summer. I thought my Aunt Gayle was so cool and I adored her. When my mother remarried a few years after my father passed away and when she became ill several years later, Aunt Gayle became my confident and was always there to talk too. We would talk on the phone and she helped me through some difficult times. She was always there for me and knew what to say to comfort me. She also replaced my grandmother by keeping me up on what was happening in our big marvelous families. Although we talked on the phone, my biggest regret was that I did not go visit with her before she passed away. I loved her with all my heart and will miss her dearly. I know her family will have a big void in their life without her, but I can just hear her beautiful laughter when she passed from this life into heaven running into the open arms of Uncle Bill, her mother, father, brother and sisters with our heavenly Father’s arms wrapped around all of them.
