Rick was born in Abilene, Texas Nov. 14, 1955 and passed away March 2, 2013 in Plano, Texas after a 3 year battle with cancer. Rick was a graduate of Washington State University with a degree in Range management which he put to use in raising cattle. He was equally at home on a horse or in his pickup and was an expert with rifle or shotgun. Rick was predeceased by his mother, Euvonne R. Thompson;and sister, Elizabeth Jane. He is survived by sons, Timothy and Allan; father, Richard W. Thompson, Jr.; sister, Hilary T. Hutson and husband, John; nephew, Miles Hutson and niece, Jennifer Hutson. Services will be 9:45 am March 16 at West Plano Presbyterian Church, 2709 Custer Rd, Plano, Texas and concluded at Rick’s home place, 824 Maple Rd, Gunter, Texas. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Rick’s name to American Cancer Society, Community Hospice, 1341 West Mockingbird, Suite 210E, Dallas Tx 75245 or Home Hospice, P.O. Box 2036, Sherman, Texas 75091.
